Mattel and Warner Bros. need your help. Later this year they will release the new 20Q™ Harry Potter game but want the fans to help out by asking the game questions about characters, places and objects from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows so that the newly released game will encompasses all the books.
The game asks fans to think of people, places, and things from the books and films and to try to stump the game’s remarkably clever and precise artificial intelligence with knowledge of Harry’s wizarding world.
From the press release:
Earlier this year, the three companies announced plans to introduce the newest version of the popular 20Q™ handheld game – 20Q™ Harry Potter, based on the popular movie and book series.
20Q™ is an artificial intelligence engine, website, company and phenomenon. Originally available only online, the game had players simply think of an animal, vegetable, mineral or other item, and 20Q™ attempted to guess what they were thinking of in 20 questions or less. Each time the online training game is played, 20Q™ “learns.”
20Q™ Harry Potter is the most recent edition to the popular handheld game that has been described as “spooky” and “deceptively addictive.” Based on the original 20Q™ game that won over millions of players from around the world, 20Q™ Harry Potter asks fans to think of people, places, and things from the books and films. The goal? Try to stump the game’s remarkably clever and precise artificial intelligence with knowledge of Harry’s wizarding world.

Grrr - it's really annoying! It said it's confused about Sopophorous Beans, so I answered questions for it (with the book open to the relevant page) and it comes back saying that my answers contradict what other people have taught it. The only information we actually have on them in the book is that they are "shriveled", contain juice and are a potion ingredient.
Yet somehow people are confidently stating what shape it is, if it is expensive, what colour it is and loads more. Somehow people have even managed to teach that it is "respected" it's a BEAN how do you respect a bean?

This time I definitely must have been living under a rock, for I am a sheer ignorant of what 20Q is all about. I have never played, never even heard of it. Not being an aficionado of online gaming, I think I'll try before giving my opinion on the project of a 'Harry Potter in 20 questions' series, and what questions could be asked. It sounds nice, from what the article says. I will try if it knows about Harry.
There's a mistake in the first paragraph: the game will encompass (and not *will encompasses*).

I love this! It's neat to think up various items, places, and people to attempt to stump the online game. I was trying to do Elder Wand, but I must not have answered the questions well enough. The game finally landed on Dumbledore's Wand - I figured that was close enough. It seemsl like there still might be a few kinks to work out, but maybe that's just me.
