John Williams hopes to return for final 'Potter'

In a lecture to fans recently, John Williams said "with confidence" that he thinks he will be back to score the final Harry Potter movie, according to a report
.
Nicholas Hooper will score David Yates' Half-Blood Prince, due out next year. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is expected to be released in 2010.

That would be fantastic. What a way to finish up the series. It would allow him to tie up all the music in a way that no one else can. His work is the signature piece.

I sure hope so, Williams is one of the greatest composers of our generation and it is his work that screams out harry potter. No matter who came after him, they all based their scores on his masterpiece.

He must know something about the director for DH. I think it will be either Chris Columbus or Alfonso Cuaron, most likely the latter. (If Yates returned, he'd bring Nicholas Hooper back for DH for sure. Not so sure about Mike Newell, though, considering Williams had a stuffed schedule in 2005 that caused him to back out of GOF.)
I really hope Williams will come back for the final movie, it would be a dream come true. And even if Cuaron or Columbus are not named the director for DH, hopefully the director of it will ask Williams to come back to give the movie proper closure, musically.

It'd be really really great if Williams returned for DH. His POA score is one of the best scores that I've ever listened to. Wish Cuaron comes back too. But please keep Columbus away from the seventh movie! I'm not even sure what he'd turn the wonderful tale into. Don't want Newell back either. It would be nice if Cuaron came back, with Michael Goldenberg doing the screenplay, and John Williams at the helm of the score. That'd be like a dream come true.

I like both composers but I think it would be nice for John Williams to come back. After all it's his music that we all identify Harry Potter with and what a nice gesture it would be to let him score the last and final Harry Potter film!

Ooh, I hope he does. I've liked all the scores, but his were my favorite. I think PoA is my favorite, actually. It's weird thinking of Deathly Hallows as a film already, seeing as it's barely been out a month yet as a book.
