In release only seven weeks on IMAX, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix has set
a new record. The movie, which has shattered multiple IMAX box office records, has now earned $35 million worldwide.
The movie has garnered more than $24 million on 91 IMAX screens domestically and more than $11 million on 52 IMAX screens internationally, resulting in an impressive per screen average of $243,000 making it the highest grossing live-action Hollywood IMAX release.
According to Greg Foster, Chairman and President of IMAX Filmed Entertainment:
This film has become a huge summer hit for the IMAX(R) theatre network and Harry Potter fans have demonstrated that they love to experience their favorite wizard in IMAX 3D. Many of our locations throughout the worldwide IMAX network have reported box office records, thanks to a terrific film from talented filmmakers, exceptional marketing from Warner Bros. Pictures and the strong appeal of Hollywood movies presented in a truly unique and powerful way.

I'm not surprised that this film is breaking all kinds of records! They're wonderful films and a lot of people in this world have good taste! I never got a chance to see this movie on an IMAX screen in 3D, but the trio did! Check out their 3-D glasses!

Not a surpise, since GOf did so well. I am glad to see this, since it means they will continue to make and promote these versions. Maybe the next will be in all 3D?

I would love to see Harry Potter on IMAX! I've seen IMAX before, on a school trip to this aviation place on LI, it was amazing, IT WAS HUGE!! They had to put me in the front row with the speakers blasting next to my ear, I almost went deaf. I wish I could experience that with HP!

Oh, I went to the beach a few weeks ago, & I was so excited when I found out they had an IMAX theater! GRRR I wish I had one nearer than 4 hours away! It was amazing! And the price was only $9, which is the same as I paid at the regular theater! Wow it was awesome, I'll never be able to watch it regular again without being super disapointed. Hehe the 3D glasses were so goofy, and you were supposed to turn them in at the end, but I stole them because I'm a big dork. Haha.

At the Syndey IMAX, I have to pre-order and purchase the tickets about 2 weeks before the session as all sessions, every day, were booked-out solid.
It was FANTASTIC and I only wished I had gone to see it a second time ...

That is something that I've never done... seen a HP movie in IMAX. I hear that it's amazing and I'm not at all surprised that it breaks records, but there isn't an IMAX theatre close to me. Bummer!
