All 'Harry Potter' movies in HD, holiday gift packs

Warner Bros. announced
today a collectible gift set and high-definition versions of all the previous Harry Potter films, available for purchase Dec. 11 along with the debut of Order of the Phoenix on home video.
The gift set will include bonus discs featuring a "Hogwarts Challenge" and three hours of all-new content, as well as souvenir bookmarks and trading cards:
The 12-disc Limited Edition Gift Set comes in a magnificent collectible 'suitcase', and includes two-disc editions of all five Harry Potter films and, for the first time on DVD, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. The Harry Potter Limited Edition DVD Gift Set will be available in Standard Definition for $119.97 and on HD DVD and Blu-ray for $149.99.
Seperately, WB is offering high-definition versions of each film, a promise they made last July:
"Pottermania" continues as the Harry Potter films 1-4 are offered for the first time in HD DVD and Blu-ray ($29.99). The High Definition versions will include all the extra content of the Giftset's two-disc versions and, for a limited time only, both versions will contain a set of four trading cards specific to the title purchased. The Harry Potter films 1-3 will be available individually in Standard Definition also with the trading cards, at a new low price (each $14.97). Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is only available at this price for 60 days, after which it will sell for $19.97.

Although, I'm wondering whether it's worthwhile to buy a HD/DVD. Is the difference in quality that obvious?
I'll wait until all 7 movies are available on DVD ...

Great way to get all the movies if you do not have them. I will be buying standard definition two disks for now. Then when all the films are out, I will get the upgraded films. Who knows they might even have IMAX 3D by then.

Yeah, I'm just getting the two disc standard definition OotP for now too. We don't even have an HD TV right now (yeah, we had wooly mamoths deliver our current TV set for us when we bought it back in the Ice Age) so it'd be silly to get the discs in HD, for us. I'm sure we'll have HD capabilities by the time DH comes out on DVD though, so we'll be waiting to get the whole set then.
