Feelin' Felix Felicis says:

I'm not surprised by the numbers, Harry Potter fandom is global. I just hope those countries that had to wait so long for their book didn't have everything ruined by spoilers from countries who already knew how the series ends.

Silly Dragon says:

I haven't read the French translation so far (I could not have waited till October 26th anyway), but I'm usually very happy with Ménard's work. He managed to render all the fantasy of the book. As to other languages, I intend to read a Spanish translation of Philosopher's Stone (revising for an upcoming translation assignment), nicely written but not as inventive as JK or Ménard. Hogwarts and its houses were left as such, the term 'muggle', and so on. I think it does not do justice to the Spanish language: it's not so limited. I've read somewhere that the books had been translated into about thirty languages, including Ancient Greek and Latin (whoever reads that?), and Welsh.
