The official site
from J.K. Rowling has been updated to include a "Wizard of the Month Archive," (via the calendar on the main page of the site or here
), where you will find a complete list of wizards that have appeared on her site.
Fans will also have a chance to review previous door openings by using the time turner in the Room of Requirement (use the eraser on the main page to locate).
Thanks to Alisha for the update.
UPDATE: The site's news section has also been updated
with news on companion books:
Companion Books
It's common knowledge that I love genuine Harry Potter fansites, which is why I created my own award to recognise their creativity and ingenuity.
It's also old news that I hope one day to write the definitive Harry Potter encyclopedia, which will include all the material that never made it into the novels, and that I will give the royalties from this book to charity.
I cannot, therefore, approve of "companion books" or "encyclopedias" that seek to pre-empt my definitive Potter reference book for their authors' own personal gain. The losers in such a situation would be the charities, that I hope, eventually, to benefit.
Jo's news on her site may have something to do with this story
, in which Jo and Warner Bros. are suing RDR books, a book publishing company based in Michigan and others.
The lawsuit states:
The infringing book is particularly troubling as it is in direct contravention to Ms. Rowling's repeatedly stated intention to publish her own companion books to the series and donate proceeds of such books to charity.
Additional items for fans are also on the site and if you really don't want to do it yourself, highlight the area below for the complete solution (courtesy of the Lexicon
) and Alisha:
1) Draw a ? mark on the square blank paper on the Extra Stuff bulletin board.?Clue: Hold your curser on the Sneakascope in the Rubbish Bin until it moves.
2) Peel back the wallpaper next to the light switch by the Door for a new Potion recipe (egg and Lacewing Fly leg). Wait on the desk top for Peeves to knock over the pens, an egg appears. Click on it. Wait in the Fansites trophy case for a new Lacewing Fly to flit in and land on the FSA cup. Click on it.

I'm so excited to see changes on her site! The coolest part about the Time Turner is the fact that you can't just read all the things behind the door, you have to solve them all over again!
Funny thing is, I can't remember how to solve any of them!! I'll have to go back through old threads and posts and figure it out again!

Great updates. It is a shame for the new fans to miss out on all the old great stuff that was created. It will be fun to relive some of it again.

Caramel Chew Chew, I can see Dumbledore just fine. He is right before Harry, so you should only have to click the arrow once to see him.
I'm loving going through these old door openings! Even if the door never opens again, I think we will still have updates to her site, in her Diary, News and FAQs at least!

This is really neat. Now I wish they would have a calendar with all of the birthdays (and maybe some illustrations, too).
Did anyone else notice that Felix Summerbee is repeated as wizard of the month. He is the first and also the thirteenth. I would bet that it was a mistake because he is listed for the same month two years in a row. But just maybe being the inventor of cheering charms is worth two months...

MORE HIDDEN TREASURES...
Go into the room of requirement, and click around the wallpaper on the upper right corner of the light switch plate. You will be able to pull away some wall paper and see a clue to something... Not sure what's next.

Geri, in addition to these changes, there is a new Easter Egg to be found! I am still working on getting the actual piece, but the directions can be found on the Lexicon.
I would post how to get them, but as I am having trouble with one piece, I will have to get back to you!

This was a very cool idea of JKR's to update the site in this manner. It was fun to look at old WOTM, and I missed door openings in the beginning too so its fun to see them again (even though I know the information behind them haha).

Wow that's great to hear. Honestly, I cannot see any other encylopedic books competing with anything JKR publishes though. She doesn't need to worry about that.

Finally able to comment, so just like to congratulate Rowling on updating the site.
On the companion books issue: It's difficult to see the line on this one. On the one hand, the offenders in question are Potter fans who want to consolidate everything we know thus far-or at least it seems that way (the Yahoo release says they will still publish the book). On the other, Ms. Rowling has the right to not let anyone else make money improperly off the Potter franchise, as she created it. Difficult to know where to turn.

I'm usually hopeless at solving the room of requirement puzzles. I'm glad to discover the first ones though, I must have missed a number of them.
Some companion books to the series are indeed relevant, but too many of them just seem to take advantage of its success, the subject being conceived as a guarantee of sale. I would enjoy reading more of JK in an encyclopedia.
