With the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince currently in production in the UK, news comes from CBBC Newsround that actress Helen McCrory
will portray Narcissa Malfoy in the sixth movie.
You may remember that Ms. McCrory was originally slated to play Bellatrix Lestrange in the fifth movie, Order of the Phoenix, but had to withdraw from filming due to her pregnancy.
Also expect an announcement on who will play young Tom Riddle and Lavender Brown soon.

Cool she looks ok, but are they going to make her blonde because thats what Narcissa is in the books? She had a baby on 2nd November so she would be ok to play this role but its really soon after the birth but I guess that depends how soon she has to start filming.

Ooh I can't wait to see which lucky girl got picked for Lavender! ^_^ They picked the right Luna, so i'm sure they'll pick the right Lavender. I can't wait to see young Tom Riddle either. He should be interesting to see.
Oh, and guess what guys? Katie Leung will continue her role as Cho in HBP! =D

She's not what I had in mind for Narcissa at all. Sometimes the casting crew just really gets it wrong, but that's just my opinion.
Hopefully she'll surprise me with her acting.
I want to know who's playing Lavender though!

Wow... she definitely does not look like the Narcissa I pictured. She would have been better cast as Bellatrix I think, but Helena Bonham Carter is also great in that role. I don't think that McCrory should be offered a part just because she missed the last opportunity and wants back in.

I agree with Gred and Forge. Even with a blonde wig and such, she doesn't convey a "Malfoy look". I pictured someone who looked more haughty, like Jolie Richardson or Naomi Watts.

I concur... totally wrong... but it's not the first time I have taken issue with their choice of casting, or seeming lack of though about appearances/(ages of parents, marauders, etc), per the canon.
