Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling will be the principal speaker
at this year's Harvard Commencement ceremony in June, where she will also receive an honorary degree.
President Drew Faust says
of the event:
Perhaps no one in our time has done more than J.K. Rowling to inspire young people to experience the excitement and sheer joy of reading. Her tails of Harry, Ron, and Hermione and their Hogwarts adventures have cast a spell on millions of readers around the world. Harvard isn't exactly Hogwarts, but I'm sure that her visit with us this June will be a moment of magic for J.K. Rowling's many admirers across the University.

"tails of Harry, Ron, and Hermione"??? I thought only Dudley had a tail!
Hopefully, the students at Harvard wil be able to tell the difference between tail and tale.
The audience may not want to follow her into a career as an author, but she will be an inspiration as to what you can achieve, whatever career path you take.

What an enormous honour for her!
How wonderful that Harvard has recognised her literary achievements - and that she is not "just" a children's book author! She is amazing ...

Holy moly! Well I applied to Harvard, but the chances of me getting in are oh-so-slim. (Over 27,000 applicants for the class of 2012.) Anyway, I must attend this commencement ceremony. Regardless of whether or not I get accepted.
