Last month we let you know that Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling was one of three nominees
for this year's Morgan Stanley Great Briton 2007 awards.
Ms. Rowling won
the arts category and was named
the Morgan Stanley Overall Great Briton of 2007, with the judges saying, "Miss Rowling had transformed the world's view of Britain."
From the article:
A publishing phenomenon, JK Rowling has changed reading habits and patterns worldwide. The success of the Harry Potter books - the final novel in the series sold 11 million copies in its first 24 hours - has united a generation of children and parents in a genuine love of reading.
The Judges felt Miss Rowling had transformed the world's view of Britain and that her books are "brilliantly British." That she also managed to top the best-seller list in France with Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, the first English-language author to do so, is a further testament to her global appeal.
Rowling has left an indelible mark on the nation's literary history, which is why the judges insisted that she should receive double honours, winning the arts category and be named the Morgan Stanley Overall Great Briton of 2007.
Congratulations to Ms. Rowling.

Oh thats a good news.
Jo has spent 10 years of her life writing HP.And from this she has taught every single person that one should not lose heart after some sad thing that happens to him/her(in case of Jo:the death of her mother)and continue one's struggle to achieve the thing that one wants.......
The thing I want to tell is that Jo taught everyone (especially to HP fans)to live a life of success......so she undoubtedly deserves this award and all the other awards she has and will be nominated for.
