of her website to inform fans that she does not have a profile on any social networking sites, including MySpace or Bebo.
The rumor is that one of the many J.K. Rowling pages MUST be the real Jo, and she replies:

Noice, noice. That is pretty obvious seeing that she is an adult.

It is true that some of those fake JK Rowling are very convincing! I almost thought it was her on a Bebo sight. But it's compleatly understandable that it isn't her. Why would she want a Myspace or Bebo profile when she has her own websight???

Rococoed says:
I doubt that J.K. Rowling would ever create for herself a profile on any of the described sites. Would she honestly consider it, when she'd probably have to hire dozens of staff just to keep up with all the friending requests and comments? ;)
I have to say, though, that I do deeply admire her wit in addressing this issue.

I've never seriously believed there was any truth in the "siny, alternative world" of rumours. JKR must not have the time to discuss her life in details on MySpace or something.

Wicked! I was only just wondering what if she did own up of having a page on a networking site ... Wow! That would've been fun to hunt for!

I wasn't aware there were that many people creating profiles posing as Jo. Good to see her put this rumor away. I must also say, I love reading her responses. They always have a touch of humor added.

How could people imitate her like that? She deserves the respect that a god deserves, because i mean, no offense to anybody, but she IS the writer of the best book series ever!

I would have a hard time believing that Jo would have a myspace at all. I would be surprised if people actually believed one of them were hers. In all honesty, I really am not a fan of myspace.

I didn't even know there were people on myspace pretending to be her....that would be kinda cool if she did have her own myspace, but she probably wouldn't have time. I'm just glad we know the truth though.

Perhaps she should open one?
But seriously, it's good of J.K. not to give aid and comfort to those kinds of people. Easier to avoid scams that way.

Why would she, and if she did, I'm sure that she would never reviel who she really was to the public... only to her close friends that she trusts.

I know that there are a lot of people that use celebrities names on myspace and facebook. I don't know why they do it, trying to be cool maybe.

If there are people out there pretending to be JKR or anyone else, they must have a pretty dull life.
Maybe it would be better if they consentrated on developing their own lived instead of living through others.
Blessings! Hecate3fold!

Ha, yeah I'm sure she leads a VERY boring life... You know with all of the articles being written about her and the red carpet events and her picture being on magazines. Sounds terribly dull :) I can't really see her wasting her time with myspace anyway. That seems more of a haven for washed up celebrities.

I figured she didn't. She would be far too busy with her life than to sit and chat on myspace! I liked the article and her sense of humour about it!

I don't think I would have believed it anyway, I don't know many people who do! But I'm glad she's shot down the rumours, actually makes it a lot less risky because now weird internet stalkers can't dupe people into meeting them!
