Wow sounds thrilling. I would love to have the chance to visit Leavesdon during filming like this reporter did! It's nice to hear the insight on the HBP film. Although I agree with those of you who are concerned that the 'romance' angle will overshadow the other important parts of this story, I am glad for the chance to see more character depth for Ginny and Harry as well. I am sure they won't turn it into a full-fledged romance movie, and we will still have our Snape/Dumbledore/Malfoy storylines in there.

I personally didn't find HBP as funny as they're saying it is. I hope they don't make it a full-on comedy, that would be just wrong. The movie would lose all of it's HP feel to it. The side plots in the book are funny and do lighten the mood of the whole bok, but the main plot of the book is not hilarious at all.
By the way the directors have been talking about the movie, they aren't even mentioning Harry and Dumbledore trying to find those Horcruxes, all everyone's talking about is Harry/Ginny. Like many people have said here, I also hope they don't show more romance between Harry/Ginny and Ron/Lavender and make the main plot of the book a subplot of the movie...But I do love those little romance parts(Harry/Ginny, not Ron/Lavender; except for those little Ron/Hermione parts that come out as a result of that relationship).
And also, AJ, I couldn't agree with you more!!!! I do have hope that there is going to be a lot of Ron/Hermione in there. David Yates said that when he directed this movie, he was very interested in how Ron and Hermione's relationship grows in this movie...or something like that. Which makes me believe he's going to include many of those moments.

Great because the sixth book was just full of laughs... Draco stepping on Harry's nose and breaking it, Draco trying to use an unforgiveable on Harry then Harry ripping him to pieces, and of course that whole ending thing with the inferi and the death... a jolly film for a jolly book.

I am pleased to see that we are receiving more information from the set at last! It's about time that we received some news.
It sounds as though they are doing a good job adapting the sixth installment and understand how it functions in the series well.

AJ says:
I've been saying this for a while. I totally get the "comedy" feel of the movie.
To me, HBP was the funniest of the books, because not only the rom-com-ness of it, but I found myself for the first time to outright laugh at some of the stuff Harry said. If I laugh at Harry, it's situational, but he was actually saying some funny, sarcastic stuff in this book.
For example, when Harry is talking to Slughorn (while on the Felix stuff) and trying to get the memory out of him. It's like, he was talking about Lily's death, but the timing of his words were very funny. Harry cracked me up in this book, so I get the comedy aspect of it.
But, I definitely don't think it will over shadow the seriousness of what occurs in the book. It's like as others have said, the "quiet before the storm."
Finally, Harry's as happy as he's been for a while, he get's to connect to DD, he's Quidditch captain (and besides his best friends fighting again and his feelings for Ginny) he's all good.
BUT THEN, DD die, Snape seems the definite enemy and the war is ON.
So, what this film needs is a fair mix of comedy and drama, with some G/H and a whole lot of RON and R/Hr and some Lavender on the side. (I'm biased, I love Ron and when I read this book, I felt that it was VERY Roncentric,..... *wink*)

It better have more comedy in it! That's what made the sixth book so much fun to read.
the movie actually revolves around the awkward and comical romance between Harry and Ginny Weasley - That's all right, I guess, as long as they give the Ron/Hermione/Lavender triangle its due as well. I mean, talk about awkward and comical...

As far as the article goes, I don't see what the fuss is. We've read every one of those quotes before on HPANA, just in different articles. I'm getting tired of all the repetition in these articles; I want some new stuff said! For example, we're not getting hardly anything about Harry's lessons with Dumbledore about Voldy's past, or about the horcruxes, or about Harry's suspicion of Malfoy and Snape, or (as some people on here have been saying) about Ron/Hermione/Lavender.
Amd as far as what I think the movie should be like, I agree with AJ completely (no need to just repeat what she said...or is it he?).

I would think HBP is not really focused on Harry/Ginny - more on Ron/Hermione actually...
I hope that stays the same. So people can see how.......

Very interesting...I'm sure it will wonderful no matter what is included and not included. We will always be disappointed by something being in the movie and something not being in the movie because it is impossible to include everything. I wouldn't want to be the writers trying to edit the books into a movie. Good luck with that!

I think the comedy is a bit strange. I found that in HBP as voldemort moved into the open it became the darkest book yet. With daily murders a nd disappearances. I think humour wise we all just need some good ole' weasly twins.

I'm happy that they are going to be putting more Harry/Ginny in this movie, but i wasent expecting comedy. I was hoping for more of a darker feel, I really hope they don't mess the mood up.

Sounds great. HP could use with a little more comedy before the last movie where there will be only a small part with the Potter Watch. Wow I would give anything for a chance like that to visit the set and see a scene being flimed.

Ok after reading this article I am that much more excited about HBP... is that even possible? I love that the film will be centered around the budding Harry/Ginny romance... such an integral part of Harry's journey!

I’m not sure if HBP is less dark than OOTP. Defiantly less angst ridden which I think is a plus. But I hope the whole thing won’t be about Harry liking Ginny. While that is important to the character development it is not the center of the book. I hope they so not skim over learning bout LV’s past. I have this slight fear that the only memory we might see is Tom Riddle asking Slughorn about Horcruxes. From the gossip I gather the Gaunts will not be included.
