Be sure to watch the CBS Early Show
on Friday morning in the U.S. as merchandise from Alivan's
(Makers of Fine Handcrafted Magic Wands) will be prominently displayed during a feature on college Quidditch teams.
Recently Quidditch games on college grounds have become popular
and one of these colleges, Middlebury College
, will be featured on the show during a visit to Amherst College in Amherst, MA to play one game during their eight-city tour during spring break.
Thanks to Dave from Alivan's for giving us the news.
UPDATE: You can now watch a video of how to play
the game as well as a play-by-play
video of this morning's game. Additional coverage can be found here

Not fair! How come that when I went to university, I had to pick from boring sports like netball, cricket, swimming and volleyball??
Oh yeah ... because Harry Potter didn't exist back then ...

*Raises eyebrow* Ok that's a bit of a stretched.. What's the point in Quidditch when there is no proper flying or a good snitch? Hope the boys wore protection.
This was shown on Australian News tonight, and as soon as I saw it my Mum goes "Bet you it's in America.." Bit of a joke, really.

Brilliant...Now, this is playing Quidditch the right way in the muggle world with brooms. It brings out the fun in the game, especially having the snitch appearing in and out at times.

That was great!!!!
I do hope that this catches on more than it has. In the future it could go professional and then possible become an Olympic event.
One more contribution to the world because of the mind of one very creative writer. I'll say it again, JKR has changed the world in a very possitive way.
Blessings! Hecate3fold!

That looks like a lot of fun I have enough HP friends to play. At first when they said the snitch was worth 50 points I wondered if they news caster got it wrong but I think 50 points is better than 150 because if the snitch worth 150 you just need a good seeker and a okay keeper. This was it is easier to win even if the other team catches the snitch.

I have to say this sounds and looks really weird. I'm not much of a sports fan, but Quidditch in the books for me didn't really have that sports appeal or essence.

I didn't get to watch this, but I do think it would be awesome to play! It would be cool to have the real game in the future, hey, they are inventing flying cars, so why not brooms??? :)

I love the real Quidditch, But sometimes I think some people take the Harry Potter thing too far. On the other hand if they have fun with it then that's the main thing.
