J.K. Rowling's signature in the visitor's book from St. Luke's church in the UK helped
raise £10,000 ($19,712) at a fundraising launch for Tutshill church while the book was on display.
You may remember that during last December's airing of J.K. Rowling...A Year in the Life JK mentions
that she stole a name from the same book to use for an "unpleasant character" in the books.

Glad the church has benefitted from her signature, but I wonder what would happen if the person who's name she 'stole' decided to sue her for it's use?
Blessings! Hecate3fold!

Who was the person? I don't recall reading through the name... Or maybe I did read through and just plain forgot and didn't take note.

That's great. I honestly feel bad for the person's name she took. I think I would have died if I saw my name being represented as an "unpleasant character." But I wonder if it is the person's full name she took. Hm.

I like to hear where she gets her names from, just read an astronomy book and you can see where half of the names came from!

How cool!! I wish that my name was used in her books - and I don't care how evil my namesake was!! Just to be part of the Harry Potter universe ... sigh ...

Glad to see her help them albeit indirectly. I am sure she would have helped more had they asked. I am sure the church will use the money to good effect.

It was incredibly generous of her to (indirectly) support the church in this manner. Hopefully the people who donated would have also done so without her signature. ;)

That's really great that her signiture went for a good cause instead of a bad one! I would actually be quite honored if I knew she had stolen my name for one of her Characters...I don't know about the whole "unpleasent" part, but i would get over it.
