Update: 'HBP' video game to be released with movie launch

EA Games has announced
that the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince video game will be released in time for the movie launch later this year. The game will be released on Wii, PS3, Xbox 360, PS2, PSP, DS, PC, mac and mobile devices.
Harvey Elliott, Head of EA Bright Light studio in the UK said:
We believe that the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince video game represents a milestone in the movie tie-in genre. Building on the technological advancements of previous games in the series and with a particular focus on the unique control system of Nintendo's Wii, the team here is working closely with the filmmakers to create an immersive interactive experience that captures the story, the action, the excitement and, above all, the fun of the film.
The Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince movie is scheduled for release on November 21, 2008.
UPDATE: Thanks to the great folks over at EA Games for sending us the first image from the video game.

I gave up on the HP games with the MOSPS in the greenhouse in GoF, I just could not figure that out, it pains me to this day! I hate those damn mosps...
Maybe I will give it another go with this one...

I absolutely loved OotP, it was such a great video game, I can't wait for this one! The graphics are amazing, the characters look so similar to the real actors, it is absolutely amazing. I'm so happy I got the PS3 when it came out, because the graphics with this gaming system are simply brilliant, I'm happy they're making the Harry Potter games for PS3.
I waste many an hour playing the Harry Potter video games...

I was positively satisfied beyond all belief by the work Electronic Arts did on the game for the Order of the Phoenix and am immensely looking forward to seeing what they have in store for us with the sixth installment. They continue to improve with each game they release in this franchise, and so it bodes well.

This is awesome. I really am looking forward to seeing how they have handled this game vs the other games in the past. Some of the images are awesome, and this game looks to be the best so far in the series. I hope they fix the camera, that was the weakest point in the previous games.

Ok.. That's a little interesting that they're marketing the HBP video game for 8-12 years old, despite the actual book being a lot more darker and mature..
I'm still going to buy the Wii game, but I'm a little unsure.. (I'm more of a Super Mario fan myself!!)

It sounds like this will be pretty good if they keep it similar to the Ootp game. Although one thing I hope they improve is the side quests. The side quests in Ootp mostly consisted of simply looking for things. Looking in every little nook and cranny of a room for an object or place to perform a spell. It would be nice if they made it more like puzzle solving.
They mentioned the gobstones and exploding snap, and I kind of wish they had left those out, didn’t enjoy them in Ootp.
Another improvement I would like to see for the PC version is improved wand control. A mouse simply does not work as well as a wii-mote (although I’ve never used a wii, so i’m taking the word of those who say it worked well). The game seemed to have a difficult time reading the movements of the mouse, making it very difficult to perform spells.

Hope it's more exciting than the last one at least... #5 was a LOT better than 4 because it went back to the original way of generally following the actual story which is fun, but it was wayyyyy too easy and not very exciting at all. Glad it'll be out in time for the movie though!
