Alan Horn, president of Warner Bros., has issued a statement for fans in direct response to criticism of the company's choice to delay the release of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince until next July.
He says:
Many of you have written to me to express your disappointment in our moving Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince to Summer 2009.
Please be assured that we share your love for Harry Potter and would certainly never do anything to hurt any of the films. Over the past 10 years, we have nurtured and protected each film, and the integrity of the books upon which they are based, to the best of our ability.
The decision to move Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was not taken lightly, and was never intended to upset our Harry Potter fans. We know you have built this series into what it is, and we thank you for your ongoing enthusiasm and support.
If I may offer a silver lining: there would have been a two-year gap between Half-Blood Prince and the much-anticipated first part of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, which opens in November 2010.
So although we have to wait a little longer for Half-Blood Prince, the wait from that film until Deathly Hallows will be less than 18 months. I am sorry to have disappointed you now, but if you hold on a little longer, I believe it will be worth the wait.Alan Horn
President, Chief Operating Officer
Warner Bros.

Dont expect anything but excuses, he will just tell you anything he can that doesnt make WB look like money hungry fools.
I expect him to tell us this wasnt a money thing and they might try something silly to make it up to us, like free ticks to something or something dumb.
I wouldnt accept anything but moving it back to November as a sorry, but Im not stupid, that isnt going to happen.

Really though, is the sad part of it all is that there using HPANA, Leaky and Mugglenet to get the word out to us that there sorry and blah blah.
If I was running these sites, I'd take a stance against being used to make my fellow fans think that everything is ok.
But WB makes these owners of these sites more then happy with all the tips, sources, set visits that there not going to throw away it all.

Is this guy friggen insane? Seriously? He is feeding the fire with crap like this. The amount of time we have to wait for DH DOESNT change, no matter how they spin that, the amount of time we wait of HBP is what changes.
This is just crap, he should of kept his mouth shut before he went an insulted us again with this lazy excuse, they must be under the illusion that were all whiny 12 year olds rather then grown adults who can read the fine lines of what they are saying.

It says exactly what the original did, only this is just in response to unhappy fans. I don't care about the "silver lining" of waiting a shorter time for Deathly Hallows. THAT is not a consolation prize either. New pictures, silver linings, and promises that WB does care about Harry Potter fans do not make my unhappiness - and I doubt many others' happiness either - all the easier to deal with. From a business perspective, I can understand it. From a fan perspective, I want to start a riot. And I swear to God, if the WB makes a ton of money on BOTH the Terminator movie AND Watchmen, and Harry Potter was not needed for 2009, I'm going to throw a FIT.

No. Just STOP, WB. Nothing you can say can justify this. And also, the thing with DH is simply shortening the wait between HBP and DH...while making us wait months longer than we were anticipating for HBP. Nothing you say will make us be, like, "Oh, okay. We love you WB!" Just. No.

Oh what a crock! That's the same thing he said before! Who cares if it will be a shorter wait to DH! They are doing this for MONEY! Not for us. Screw Warner Bros and Alan Horn! I WILL NOT be seeing this movie until it comes out on DVD!! I hate Warner Bros.!!

Still hate him, and that is no silver lining, we're still going to have the same amount of time as before, just we'll have less of a wait between HBP and DH, who the effing heck cares?! they said it was coming out in November for about a year and they go and change their minds just like that AFTER they gave all those pictures AFTER they gave us the trailer.
Alan Horn is still Voldemort in my eyes, the only thing that could change that would be them changing the release date BACK to November, 21st, 2008

All I can say is: ugh. That is how reading that made me feel, and that was the reaction I had to it. ugh. There is no excuse for getting people's hopes up and then dashing them to the side for financial gain. Granted it is only a movie, and I would rather see people be more impassioned by something more meaningful in life, but I completely understand where the Harry Potter world is coming from and I fully intend to hold strong to the boycott.
HECK NO WE WONT GO!!

"Worth the wait" for who, exactly? The film is finished. It's not like waiting that extra time will make it a better film for the fans. They're not using the extra time to somehow improve production. It's worth the wait for WB execs in that it gives them a chance to rake in more money with better positioning in the theaters in a year where they would not have a "tent pole"/"event movie" opening otherwise. Don't try to play it like it's good for the fans because there is no benefit to us here. The WB brass should stop trying to justify what they've done, rather than continuing to try to spin it like they're doing the fans a favor.

Worth the wait? I'm not seeing it!

They never thought moving the movie back almost a year when it was only three months away would upset fans?!
How dense can they be? Of course it would upset and anger fans! There's no way the fans would be okay with this.
The feeling of hatred for WB only grows the more they try and justify their awful decision.

I wouldn't mind waiting 2 years for DH. No matter what they do we have to wait now. Before we had to wait for DH, now we have to wait for HBP.
The problem here is not the waiting, it is promising all us Harry Potter fans a certain release date and then taking it back!!!

If WB hadnt been so greedy they wouldnt be up agains a HUGE group of fans. All of this could have been avoided and now executives have to take time away from whatever they were doing to write statements to try and apease us. this is redicilous and i hope its just a cruel joke. for the first two days i kept refreshing the page to see if HPANA would have like a huge JUST KIDDING as an update or something to that effect but there people are really delaying the movie release and it makes me soo angry i cant even put it into words so sorry if this post dosnt make any sence.

since they have already told us the release date of DH, we will still be waiting the same amount of time for it. I already have a count down in my room!I would be smart of them to put the release date back now because people would go see it now just to prove them wrong money wise. I agree with everyone, it sucks, but they obviously don't have faith in the HP fans like they say they do, or they would release it in November!
