Many people's plans were thrown into disarray by the delay of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince until next summer. But when one door shuts, another (or several) open.
First, Azkatraz 2009 has announced
plans for an exclusive IMAX screening of the film, which now conveniently coincides with their conference next July!
HP Fan Trips announced
this evening that they have secured a cast member from Equus to participate in an exclusive workshop following the included performance, plus a private scavenger hunt at Madam Tussauds in London, complete with prizes.
More details on both events are promised to be forthcoming, and we'll bring those updates to you when they are released.

Brilliant...It seems that Beyond Boundaries has it all figured out. They are the best Touring company that takes care of their clients as if they were family. Have confidence in Beyond Boundaries HP Fan Trip. I know, I did for over three years now.
Cheers!

Basilina,
When You go on an HP Trip in England/Scotland. The Trip at first day is like going on a tour. Then on the second day like magic. Everyone is in Robes with their crest on them of their houses. Then the Castles, the places where the filming of HP took place. The ride on the Hogwarts Express coaches. The Feast similar to the Great Hall...I can go on and on. I went over three times and every time was an Adventure. Worth every Sickle and gallon...
Cheers!

Azkatraz 2009 has the right idea. That sounds like a lot of fun to see the movie for the first time with tons of fellow Potter fans.

Well that's very nice... And what about us, fans that wont be able to go to Azkatraz or the fan trips?
And what’s with all the connections between Equus and HP, as far as I know the only in common thing is Dan.

Interesting on how people are adapting. I guess that there really is nothing else to do but adapt. I seriously doubt that anyone will boycott the films.

It seems that WB has a far reaching control over what everyone else is doing.
When WB says squat, you do it.
My, but to have that much POWER based on greed!

I guess we are a fandom of optimists... what else can you do with the craziness of pushing back a much anticipated movie by a million (ok, 8 but it feels like a million) months but look at the positive stuff? I think we'd all go insane otherwise!

Oh please, excouse me this is so not right. I'm so tired of the commercialization of Potter. I guess I shall have to stand alone against WB - anyone with me???

I have very mixed thoughts on this, on one hand, i think the fan trips would be excellent to do, but on the other hand, it seems like there throwing great things at us, to try to cover up the fact that they've moved the film.

Team AZKATRAZ says:
I think some people here have the wrong idea about Azkatraz - we aren't sponsored, owned, controlled by or even within the orbit of WB - the most they've ever done for us is send us a few posters and a trailer for GoF back in 2005 - which, btw, didn't even work.
We had announced over a month before - http://community.livejournal.com/azkatraz/692.html - that Azkatraz was taking place from July 18 - 22 in San Francisco - so all we've done is add a movie showing the day before our original official start date. We're not working with WB on this at all and we aren't "commercializing" Potter - we've been putting on fancons since 2003 so people can get together and discuss HP from the tiny nuances to the overwhelming meta, and we're a 501(c)(3) that donates thousands from our proceeds after every event to literacy-based charities. And we're entirely fan-run.
