Author JK Rowling was to be written into a special Christmas episode of television show Doctor Who, but star David Tennant (who also played Barty Crouch Jr. in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) refused to take part, according
to The Sun:
The episode was to see JK's imagination, full of magic and wizards, become reality after she is attacked by a giant space bug.
[Producer Russell] Davies explained: "Zap! JK's imagination becomes real! A world of Victorian magic replaces the present-day world."
But Tennant apparently thought the idea too silly even for the often downright ridiculous comedy.
[Ed: Please keep in mind this is The Sun. There's no doubt a sliver of truth somewhere in here, but more than likely this was a pipe dream that never materialized. It would be surprising if Rowling was even contacted about the project.]
UPDATE: According to the Times Online (like The Sun, owned by Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation), these quotes are excerpts from e-mails
between Russell and journalist Benjamin Cook, with whom Russell was discussing a book project.

I love JK Rowling, and i love David Tennant :D
Sounds awesome to me, but i can see how it might be a bit of a weird idea, what with wizards and everything, it could be too complicated.

I read this story last night, and I doubted its authenticity. We all know JK is a very private person and it seems highly unlikely she'd appear on something like this :/

I don't watch Dr.Who and I don't think I'd watch just because she's on one episode. But good for her if she is doing it.

Doctor Who's a comedy now?
Personally, I think I'd prefer her to have written it, but looks like she declined that =(

I sounds like a good idea, but I don't think JK would go for it. If they did do an episode like that, I would have to watch it.

Well, firstly, may I say, brilliant a writer as Russell is, I am ever so glad David dug his heels in on this one! What a silly, silly idea! :P I love Who and HP both(obviously), but cannot fathom having seen a script like this - it WOULD have smacked of a spoof, like David said. I'll take the cybermen in the snow, thanks!:) Can't wait to see the Xmas special, that all said! ;-)
Also very much looking forward to Moffat being head writer - always a fan of his penned episodes, very psychological stuff.

My goodness.. I know Dr Who is bad but they have to resort to getting JKR in an episode to boost their viewings? Uncool.
I hope it doesn't happen.

Dr. Who and JK all i one, surely that would be a downright good thing but i think it wouldn't be worth it just for one episode. i wonder whether this will ever take place

God, I've never heard of that show. They don't deserve JK's fandom. I give that idea a thumbs down. And a giant bug???? What are they thinking???

I love watching Doctor Who! And it would've been so awesome for her to be in an episode!
Come on David Tennant!
I don't know, maybe he just wants something more serious and he doesn't want to be in an episode that doesn't fulfil a serious role such as J.K. Rowling being attacked by a giant bug.
:D
But on another note, in PS when they offered J.K. to be Lily in the film and just to stand and wave in the Mirror of Erised. She didn't want to because she'd be afraid she'd muck it up.
So even if Jo was contacted about it, I doubt she'd take it.
But still :D DOCTOR WHO ROCKS!

I really would like to see a blending of Dr. Who and the characters of Hogwarts. That could be a series of it's own.
Dr. Who is one of my favorite shows, along with the Stargate series, both of them. Can you tell, the sci-fi channel is my favorite place to be.
Blessings! Hecate3fold!

David would never be so rude. He love JKR, and I'm sure he would be thrilled to have her as a part of the show. What rubbish The Sun comes up with. I think that that would be a great idea for a DW book. RTD is on to something! :)

Sounds like absolute tosh - I daresay some journalists have more imaginative imaginations than even Jo, made this garbage up and some idiot at the Sun believed them.
JK Rowling is too cool for this by far.
