Fans of the Harry Potter movies will finally get a first-hand look at props and set pieces used during filming, when Harry Potter: The Exhibition

Harry Potter: The Exhibition, which will run in Chicago through September 7, 2009, will include elaborate displays of artifacts and props from popular environments featured in the films, such as those from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, including the Gryffindor common room and Hagrid's hut.

I cannot wait to see this. I love museums anyway (seeing Dorothy's ruby slippers at the Smithsonian American History Museum has been by far one of the highlights of my life--I'm a big-time movie geek if you couldn't tell) and getting to connect with something from the HP films will be a blast.
Hecate3fold: I live in OH but am planning to visit Chicago to see the HP exhibit at the museum. Do you have any advice for an out-of-towner like myself? We drove to Chicago a few years back for a HP book release party and the traffic nearly drove me insane :-) Any tips or hints would be greatly appreciated. P.S. How's your WB boycott going? I'm still holding strong--didn't go see Twilight and haven't bought The Dark Knight :-) If you prefer to message me through e-mail I believe I have my address is public in my profile. Thank you!

SiriusFan,
That's exactly the reason I don't go to the heart of Chicago, it's been years since I've been there. My best advice is to get a map of the Chicago area and study it. The MSI is just off of Lake Shore Drive south of the Loop in Jackson Park. I don't know if you are planning to do any other site seeing while here, or what your plans are for lodging, you might want to contact a travel agency for that.
Wally-World sells a great U.S. road atlas with a good map of Chicago in it, at a reasonable price.(Rand McNally)
Thank you for your support of the Boycott. It's not just the delay of the movie that I am upset about. What was done when the Lexicon was to be published has me very upset also. If you remember it was never just JKR, it was always her AND WB. She never should have sold them the rights to her books and I think she is suffering because of it.
I'm very glad that Van Ark was able to re-vamp the book and now has it published. January 12th is the sale date and I already have mine pre-ordered from the publisher.
If you have any other questions my email is in my profile.
Blessings! Hecate3fold!

So close and yet so far away...I live only 12 hours or so away from such a wonderful event and there is no way I'll be able to go....sighs...I hope all who do see it, enjoy themselves immensely.

Yays I am SO excited for this! :) These sort of things are always in the UK or even when they are in the US they are way too far away for me to go. This sounds like it will be lots of fun to see and the Museum is awesome in itself anyway.

I live in Wisconsin so hopefully I'll get a chance to visit this sometime. It would be awesome to be able to see so much of the what was in the films. Just have to see how much the tickets will be and what dates will be available. I'm sure it'll be busy!

I'd really like to go to this. Don't know if it'll happen though. I've been trying to save as much money as possible this year. Got to move out of mom's house at some point, true?
