Avatar wins it hands down. If it doesn't the Academy will look even more stupid than it already does.

Congrats to HBP for making the cut. The visual effects were the only thing about the movie I did not find disappointing.
I'm afraid though the journey will end here. Avatar will win that Oscar and if it does not we'll all know that something VERY fishy is going on in that academy.

Not a surprise. But given the list of contenders and the age of the HP film franchise, I would be very surprise if it won. We can hope for a nomination, but that is probably the best to expect.

I think it deserves to be on the short list but Avatar has taken special effects to a whole new level.
I really look to Avatar to win the Oscar.

Avatar looks REALLY good. I'm going to go watch it this Friday. Harry Potter has awesome special effects, but it looks like Avatar might win from the previews I've seen. Oh, well. HP is still awesome. Avatar just looks amazing. :) Congrats to HBP!

While it most definitely won't win, let alone be nominated. It is still a great honor for 'HBP' to be considered for this category. I see the only one it could beat out is District 9 or possibly Terminator. But noms will definitely be Avatar (which will win), 2012, Star Trek, and possibly Transformers (which won't win because of it's overall quality).

The special effects in this movie were great, but I still don't see it getting to the final cut, and definitely not the win. It would be great to see HP get an Oscar for something, but I'm not holding my breath.

I'd like it to win, but with Avatar being talked about the way it is, it just might bump HBP out. However, I'm sure it takes a lot just to be considered, so congrats HBP for that!

I just saw Avatar last night and it has a good chance of winning, especially because it was so recent in people's minds compared to Harry Potter, which is too bad for HBP. I'm still rooting for HBP!

Congratulations to HBP for making the cuts! I think that the visual effects get better and more stunning with each film. I would love to see it win an Academy Award, that would be so great.

I think that it will win one eventually, just not with this film. There are too many great films going up against it (namely Avatar and Star Trek in my opinion).
