A georgous poster just makes the water come to my mouth! As ever with the HP releases (not just the movies) I wish it would be the time now.
I just hope they get it right!

The fact that they're not using the title "Deathly Hallows" kind of hints that they'll barely mention the Deathly Hallows. The same thing happened with HP6

Kinda sad/depressing to see Hogwarts like that, bit of a morbid poster IMO :(

IT'S BEAUTIFUL! *runs around room screaming*
Well, I mean, not seeing Hogwarts destroyed. That's very sad. But the poster is gorgeous.
The fact that they didn't say Deathly Hallows IS a bit odd -- hopefully they won't skate over them! They were very important in my opinion. Tied everything together nicely.

I don't think they're avoiding "Deathly Hallows" at all. I think the main reason they did "HP7" on this poster is because it's a smaller logo that fits nicely with the images on the poster. If they put the full "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" logo, the image would be cluttered and take your eye away from the beauty of this poster. In addition, having such a title as HP7 makes people who aren't as big of fans (people like us) or non-fans in general go up to a very interesting movie poster and say "Wow, what movie is this?" rather than pass by "just another Harry Potter" poster.
I think it's obvious even from the images and trailers we've seen that they will be putting plenty of emphasis on the Deathly Hallows. It is a much more important feature and more important storyline than "Half-Blood Prince" which they were able to gloss over a bit and get away with. We've seen the ring with the symbol of the Deathly Hallows and all the ghosts have been cast for Harry to use the stone, Xenophilius Lovegood has been cast, Viktor Krum returns, we've heard Harry asking about the Deathly Hallows from Olivander, Gregorovitch has been cast and young Dumbledore and young Grindelwald, and we clearly have seen Voldemort taking the wand from Dumbledore's tomb. Plus, we've seen the Peverell gravestone from the first trailer despite no previous reference in Half-Blood Prince. I'm sure there are plenty more reasons as well.
Sorry for the long post, but I think people should be more respectful of the filmmakers' decisions and less assuming they will screw it up. They know what they're doing and JK Rowling approves everything they do. (She was also very supportive of cutting the other memory scenes from Half-Blood Prince, since that was a major complaint, and said it was her favorite movie so far...I think they're doing a fine job. The movies CAN'T be exactly the books.)

Great emotion invoking poster. Doesn't seem like the final movies should be upon us but they are. I'm glad that the finale will be dual movies to be able to fully cover the final installment.

TheOtherMinister- That's a pretty good comparison. Half-Blood Prince really didn't mention the whole storyline of the HBP, but seeing as how through filming images, and people cast (Xeno, for one), I don't think that we're in for a disappointment in Deathly Hallows. :)
Sectumsempra87- Definitely agreed! I think we're going to be seeing the Deathly Hallows being more present in this movie. From the first teaser we saw, we can already see Harry asking Olivander about them. Also, HP7 does give the poster a darker feel to it, doesn't it?

The poster is pretty cool looking, but I don't have high hopes for the movie itself. In my opinion each movie was worse than the last, and I hated the last book, so I'm not looking forward to these two at all.

What a gorgeous poster, yet it's so sad to see Hogwarts destroyed and in flames. So sad. That is a very keen comparison of the two posters, kind of fitting really. We all started out coming to Hogwarts just like Harry and now, just as the poster says, "it all ends here".

Sectumsempra87: Thank you so much for what you said. I was starting to get down about the whole 'HP7' bit, but what you said really makes sense.
Anyway, first of all, I absolutely LOVE this poster. Very simple in an emotional way, and definitely creates interest from even non-fans.
The comparison, also, is genius. I would never have though of comparing the two, but both of them, side by side, is a heartbreaking sight.

May I ask why Hogwarts is on fire?
I seriously can't remember that happening in the book...
I can't be bothered about this stupid film, David Yates has completely ruined the films for me=[
It's not just that they've completely forgotten the books... it doesn't feel like Harry Potter anymore... from OOTP onwards, all the scenes seemed really choppy, short and randomly pieced together with silences... whatever happened to John Williams?=[=[ And Dan's hair... i'm sorry, but they can't even be bothered trying to get his hair right anymore... ever since it went short in OOTP...
It makes me so, so disappointed when I think what brilliant films these last three could have been if David Yates hadn't taken over...
*sigh*
Even if by some miracle they stick to the plot, I can't see how this film is going to be any good.

Sorry to Double-post
Sectumsempra87-Couldn't put it better myself. The Half-Blood Prince thing wasn;t important to the main plot of HBP anyway. Besides Harry Doesn't even discover the Goblet or the Diadem is a Horcrux because of the Memories. He does because he overhears Bellatrix getting worried about it in her Vault at Gringotts. Secondly, Harry discovers the Diadem because Voldemort hints somethings at Hogwarts. So, the Memories really didn't matter. They explain everything in much greater detail in DH as well.
I think what you said was right, they can't skip the Deathly Hallows, that's the main reason Harry defeats Voldemort.

hogwartscherry- have you read Deathly Hallows? What do you think happens at the end of the book. Hogwarts gets trashed. Of Course it's on fire. It gets destroyed by spiders, giants, and all sorts of magic. It doesn't matter how it's trashed. The Battle of Hogwarts destroys the Castle.

Meh. I agree with TheOtherMinister. And HBP's storyline was quite important. Which is why I was incredibly depressed after walking out of that movie. I just hope they don't hop, skip, or jump around on this one. Especially since there are two parts.

Sectumsempra87 says:
R2krw- I don't see how you can agree with TheOtherMinister in thinking that Deathly Hallows toryline will be glossed over or barely mentioned. As Dumbledore says, "The evidence...is incontrovertible."
The title of the each book does not necessarily mean that what the title refers to is the central or most important part of each book. For example, while the Sorcerer's Stone, Chamber of Secrets, Prisoner of Azkaban (Sirius Black), Order of the Phoenix were central to the plot...The Goblet of Fire was not the central point of interest (granted JK Rowling DID have her working titles as Harry Potter and the Doomspell Tournament...later changed to Triwizard Tournament) and we never heard of the "goblet of fire" again after it chose the champions. Similarly, book 7 was almost called "Harry Potter and the Elder Wand" or "Harry Potter and the Peverell Quest".
The Deathly Hallows storyline is immensely important to the storyline given that it answers many interesting questions, sets the trio off in certain directions, and is the ultimate reason that Voldemort's curse rebounds upon itself, refusing to kill the true master of the Elder Wand.
Given all of that, what can you say about how important the Half-Blood Prince storyline really was? Finding out WHO the Prince was did not advance the storyline whatsoever. Yes, the book helped Harry obtain the horcrux memory from Slughorn, that was the most important thing and it was covered extremely well in the movie. The much less important feature is that Snape IS the Half-Blood Prince, and it was able to be brought down to the single "You dare use my own spell against me, Potter? Yes, I am that Half-Blood Prince." The only thing they left out was Harry trying other spells from the book and Hermione being more persistent about finding out who it was. This was all done without any detriment to the plot.
Please, trust the filmmaker's decisions. They really do know what they're doing and if JKR didn't approve what they did, we wouldn't see it in the films.
