Even though it's illegal to buy or sell barn owls without the proper documentation, there's no such restriction when it comes to breeding them - which is becoming a problem for people like Chris Jones, who runs The Independent Midlands Birds of Prey Rescue Service in Stourbridge.

Fortunately, he was able to find a new homeopens in new window for Star, an eight-week-old barn owl.

The eight-week-old barn owl has moved in with Oldbury animal lover Paul Windle.

Star has become best friends with Paul's Staffordshire bull terrier Buddha. The dog and the owl even sleep together in 15-week-old Buddha's basket.

Paul, who has another dog, four rabbits, birds, a hamster and goldfish at his Elizabeth Crescent home, said he was happy to take in Star.

He is now building a new aviary for Star, who is living in the house at the moment.
