10th anniversary cover
Help Scholastic celebrate 10 years of 'Harry Potter'
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone," Scholastic, the U.S. publishers of the series, will hold at their headquarters in New York City, the "Harry Potter Cover to Cover Day" event starting at 8 am on Tuesday, September 23rd. The event will include opportunities for fans to sit in the throne used by J.K. Rowling while she visited New York in 2005 and 2007, view the event on a webcast and for those attending, a even commemorative souvenir.

'Philsopher's Stone'
Auction of first edition of 'Philosopher's Stone' sets new record
A rare first edition of "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" sold at a Christie's auction today for a record £19,700 ($40,355.88). The book, one of 500 copies, was in excellent condition and was only read once. A proof copy of the book containing a printing error on the title page was sold for £2,250 ($4,610.46)

'Philosopher's Stone'
'Philosopher's Stone' named top book of the past 25 years
UK book chain Waterstone's announced the Top 25 Books of the Past 25 years, as voted for by their customers, and the number one book on the list was "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone." The announcement was made to celebrate the chains silver jubilee and publishers, editors and agents made the nominations.

Official Harry Potter audiobooks now on iTunes
Steve Jobs announced today at an Apple press event in San Francisco that JK Rowling has signed an exclusive deal to make all six and the to-be-released final "Harry Potter" audiobooks available for purchase and download on iTunes, effective immediately. Additionally, a special edition "Harry Potter iPod" will be made available featuring the Hogwarts school crest, designed by the author.

New Harry Potter hardcover boxed set coming
While Christopher Paolini's second novel may have knocked "Harry Potter" down a notch on Amazon.com's bestseller list, Scholastic is ramping up to offer a boxed set of all six "Potter" books to date. A new image of the set, which will cost about $100 and include hardcover editions packaged in an artwork-covered case, is now online.

Boxed set of all 'Potter' books due this fall
Scholastic announced earlier this month that a boxed set of the first six "Harry Potter" novels -- from "Sorcerer's Stone" to "Half-Blood Prince" -- will hit shelves in October. The retail price will be about $160 but Amazon is currently accepting pre-orders at around $100.

J.K. Rowling notebook auctioned on eBay
Do you have some cash to spare? If so, you can bid on a notebook that contains drawings by "Harry Potter" author J.K. Rowling for "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone." The small notebook is currently up for sale on eBay and can be yours for £25,000 ($45,662).

Potter inspired clock
'Harry Potter' inspires inventions
It would seem that the folks over at Microsoft have been reading the "Harry Potter" books to get ideas and have created a digital wall clock with hands for each member of the family instead of numbers. Also, researchers and engineers from the University of Pennsylvania have developed their own version of an invisibility cloak.

Mini Harry Potter book sells at auction
A few weeks ago we posted pictures and a story about JK Rowling's donation to the 999 Club of a mini-book based on "Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone." The auction, held last night at Sotheby's in London, raised a total of £125,000 ($229,768), of which £11,000 ($20,000) was paid for Rowling's book.

Sotheby's shows pictures of Rowling's mini-book
JK Rowling has donated a mini-book based on "Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone" to the 999 Club and now Sotheby's has released some pictures . Rowling's mini-book, which features illustrations and extracts is estimated to fetch over $10,000 when it is auctioned on Nov. 1.

Too much 'Harry Potter' can be a bad thing
Bookstores are discovering that even popular books like "Harry Potter" don't always sell as well as predicted - just ask discount book giant Bookworld, which was forced to close stores in Scotland and lost a fortune after bulk buying too many "Harry Potter" books.

Best holiday Harry Potter present ever?
Our friends at HP4U.co.uk are auctioning a full, deluxe collector's set of the Harry Potter books, all first editions. Some of the novels, including "Prisoner of Azkaban," are signed by the movie version's stars, a result of HP4U's visit to the wrap party they reported on in November.

You might think it odd that one of the best selling book series of all time would be considered too difficult to read for some - but education professor Richard Allington thinks older teens who are struggling with reading might be intimidated by the boy wizard's words.

Faulty "Philosopher" up for grabs
Ryan Morely has run into quite a bit of luck recently - he managed to obtain, through a bookstore at which he worked, an issue of "Harry Potter and the the Philosopher's Stone" bounded with poor editing. A smart idea it would be to market such a find, and he has chosen this route - with a minimum of £8,000 requested for the novel.
