EW's 1,000th issue
'Goblet of Fire' included in EW's 'New Classics Books' list
With the 1,000th issue of "Entertainment Weekly" on newsstands today, the "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" book is included at the number 2 spot on their 'New Classics Books' list.

'Wyrd' group still battling over fictional 'Potter' band's name
Winnipeg, Canada folk music group Wyrd Sisters are continuing their two-year-old battle with Warner Bros. over the similarly named band in "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire," even though the group failed to halt the 2005 film's release and Warner Bros. removed all mention of it from the movie. The band is now demanding that all remaining DVDs, video games and other merchandise that reference The Weird Sisters be destroyed.

Official Harry Potter audiobooks now on iTunes
Steve Jobs announced today at an Apple press event in San Francisco that JK Rowling has signed an exclusive deal to make all six and the to-be-released final "Harry Potter" audiobooks available for purchase and download on iTunes, effective immediately. Additionally, a special edition "Harry Potter iPod" will be made available featuring the Hogwarts school crest, designed by the author.

New Harry Potter hardcover boxed set coming
While Christopher Paolini's second novel may have knocked "Harry Potter" down a notch on Amazon.com's bestseller list, Scholastic is ramping up to offer a boxed set of all six "Potter" books to date. A new image of the set, which will cost about $100 and include hardcover editions packaged in an artwork-covered case, is now online.

Boxed set of all 'Potter' books due this fall
Scholastic announced earlier this month that a boxed set of the first six "Harry Potter" novels -- from "Sorcerer's Stone" to "Half-Blood Prince" -- will hit shelves in October. The retail price will be about $160 but Amazon is currently accepting pre-orders at around $100.

Jason Isaacs revives Lucius Malfoy role
Slimy "Harry Potter" villian Lucius Malfoy is set to reappear in "Goblet of Fire," according to ic Liverpool. Actor Jason Isaacs, described by Empire magazine as "Hollywood's Brit villain du jour," is returning to Britain to work on the film, the newspaper reported. The Malfoy character wasn't featured in "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" but has a more important role in the fourth movie.

Since it’s debut last week the paperback version of “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” has landed in the number one spot on USAToday’s, Amazon, Barnes & Noble & BookWeb’s book lists.

Rowling set to win adult book prize
JK Rowling seems set to win the only literary success which has so far eluded her - her first adult book prize. Her latest book, "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" was shortlisted for the fiction section of the WH Smith book awards.

Too much 'Harry Potter' can be a bad thing
Bookstores are discovering that even popular books like "Harry Potter" don't always sell as well as predicted - just ask discount book giant Bookworld, which was forced to close stores in Scotland and lost a fortune after bulk buying too many "Harry Potter" books.

Rowling loses out in BBC Big Read contest
JRR Tolkien's epic fantasy trilogy "The Lord of the Rings" has won the BBC's Big Read contest to find the UK's most popular novel beating "Pride and Prejudice," "His Dark Materials," "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" and "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire."

Best holiday Harry Potter present ever?
Our friends at HP4U.co.uk are auctioning a full, deluxe collector's set of the Harry Potter books, all first editions. Some of the novels, including "Prisoner of Azkaban," are signed by the movie version's stars, a result of HP4U's visit to the wrap party they reported on in November.

Rowling's Dad to cash in on Potter secret
According to Contact Music, author J.K. Rowling's father is "unleashing secret details from her massively popular Harry Potter novels, in an attempt to raise over $200,000 (GBP125,000)."

Harry Potter intimidating?
You might think it odd that one of the best selling book series of all time would be considered too difficult to read for some - but education professor Richard Allington thinks older teens who are struggling with reading might be intimidated by the boy wizard's words.

Betting odds against Potter in UK
The shortlist of BBC’s Big Read includes only one of J.K. Rowlings book from the Harry Potter series ‘Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire’ and it seems that bookies in Great Britain are betting against it.

Interview with the translator
Radio Prague has an interview with Pavel Medek, who, along with his brother Vladimir, shares the distinction of translating the "Harry Potter" novels into Czech. Pavel is currently translating "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix."
