What's it going to be then, eh? The latest rumor
from Wizard News is that Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, scheduled for release in 2005, will be longer than the previously rumored length of 2-1/2 hours.
Wizard News has now learned, according to reliable sources inside Warner Brothers, that they are looking into the possibility of making Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire into one movie, four hours long, with an intermission.
It is not known whether this change in thinking on the part of Warner Brothers was due to fan input
, or someone inside Warner Brothers who likes the Harry Potter stories enough to insist they not be butchered. In any event, this is very good news for Harry Potter fans!
Good news, indeed - although the key word here is rumor...

Four hours or two films? I think a four hour film with added scenes on the DVD (as on the LOTR's DVDs) would be the best idea as I don't think I would want to wait a year between films. If you can't sit through four hours, you will just have to go twice. Watch the part before the intermission one day and go back the next and watch the rest. That would make the theatres happy also as they would get the price of two admissions!

Finally - a Warner Brothers decision I can stand behind concerning GoF! I do hope that Steve Kloves will cut off his right arm before butchering that book! And being that he is THE screen writer for HP - WB should listen carefully!
I do hope this rumor is true... all my fingers are crossed...

That would be so awesome. I love going to movies with intermissions, because you can refill your drink. And if the movie is 4 hours, they'll be able to fit alot of the scenes in it!

Having an intermission is a GOOD thing for movie theaters, actually. They get most of their money not from selling tickets but from selling food. If there is an intermission, a lot of people would go and buy food again giving the theater a lot of money. It would almost be like two 2h movies, only they'd just get the admission price once. But, huge numbers of people should show up since it's Harry Potter! So, I really don't see it as being a big problem if they have the intermission--if they don't, however, it could be a problem (for us watching too!)

The intermission idea is a good one... specialy for theatres owners, who will charge twice, 'cos I think they'll consider two diferents sessions each part. Remember, they were complaining that if the movie were too long they wouldn't earn much money per day.

I would pay double for a 4 hour film...
It was bad enough squeezing the short first two books into 2 1/2 hours, a lot of many vital scenes had been left out. And it will be just unimaginable to squeeze GoF or later I(I hope) OotP into that short time.
If they can do it with other films, why not GoF? Maybe WB just waited for the fan reactions to the Two Towers - watching if there were enough visitors...
I prefer the intermission idea (I can watch it half a year later in one part on dvd). But to divide it in two films and having to wait maybe half a year for the second part - well I couldn't stand the long waiting. It's bad enough waiting for the 4th of June to come... And then again for some date in 2005. *wail and wringing hands*
I hope this isn't just a rumour! We have to go on signing the petition!!!

This is great. This is exactly what I suggested in the letter I wrote them. I am a big fan of the intermission and think movie companies need to bring it back (assigned seating would be nice too).

I think assigned seating depends on the movie theatre...not the movie. But that would be so cool is Goblet of Fire was four hours long! The fun would last even longer!
(I'm probably gonna get butt sores in the theatre...hehehe)

Hurrah! I cannot wait! Although, it would be better to just have a 24-7 movie of Harry Potter..... just always running... acting out all the scenes... ahhhhhhh

That's so cool. But I think we will have to pay more, probably because movie theatres will earn less because they show the movie less times a day if it longer.
In my country you pay aroung $2.50 to $3.75 American Dollars a movie. How much do you pay in your country?
But I think an Intermission (which I suppose its an interruption (not native english) would be necessary, imagine not seeing 3 minutes of the movie just because you needed to go to the bathroom)

I really hope so!!!! I was sooooo worried if that they would make a 2 and a half hour movie and cut everything out. Of course this is a rumor. We can only hope that it will become official! It won't be to hard to sit through it. Hey, I sat through Titanic for 4 hours this won't be an issue!

I like the idea of the intermission because it gives time for restroom breaks and for fan-pondering on the other half of the film. And I simply love that it will be four hours. It's nothing for me to watch a movie for four hours. Bring on the Harry Potter!

Yea, I was always saying that Goblet of Fire should be something like 4 hours long, because I don't think they would be able to fit everything in 2 1/2 hours...they would have to cut out a lot of parts. Ooh, I do hope they finalize their decision on making it 4 hours long! that would be so cool!
Our movie tickets cost $5.00 at the least and $7.00 at the most.
