Official Synopsis: Fantasy Adventure. Voldemort is tightening his grip on both the Muggle and wizarding worlds and Hogwarts is no longer the safe haven it once was. Harry suspects that dangers may even lie within the castle, but Dumbledore is more intent upon preparing him for the final battle that he knows is fast approaching. Together they work to find the key to unlock Voldemort's defenses and, to this end, Dumbledore recruits his old friend and colleague, the well-connected and unsuspecting bon vivant Professor Horace Slughorn, whom he believes holds crucial information. Meanwhile, the students are under attack from a very different adversary as teenage hormones rage across the ramparts. Harry finds himself more and more drawn to Ginny, but so is Dean Thomas. And Lavender Brown has decided that Ron is the one for her, only she hadn't counted on Romilda Vane's chocolates! And then there's Hermione, simmering with jealously but determined not to show her feelings. As romance blossoms, one student remains aloof. He is determined to make his mark, albeit a dark one. Love is in the air, but tragedy lies ahead and Hogwarts may never be the same again.

'Half-Blood Prince' receives Oscar nomination
The oscar nominations were released today, and "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" was among them. It received the highly-respectable "Best Cinematography" nomination for Bruno Delbonnel's magnificent work on the latest "Harry Potter" installment.

'HBP' garners two BAFTA nominations
The 2010 British Academy Film Awards nominations have been announced and "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" has garnered two nods for production design and visual effects.

Stuart Craig nominated by Art Directors Guild for 'HBP'
Besides "Avatar," other nominations in the fantasy category went to Philip Ivey for "District 9," Stuart Craig for "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," Scott Chambliss for "Star Trek" and K.K. Barrett for "Where the Wild Things Are."

'HBP' among finalists for 'Oscar' Visual Effects nominations
Back in December, we told you that "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" was on the list of fifteen films in the running to receive the "Best Visual Effects" Oscar at the 82nd Annual Academy Awards. That list has been shortened to seven, with "Half-Blood Prince" making the cut.

The Weasley's in the news
It would seem that all the Weasley actors were in the news this week. Bonnie Wright (Ginny) sat down to talk about kissing Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) in the sixth movie, "Half-Blood Prince." While the twins, Oliver and James Phelps (Fred and George) spoke in a radio interview about working on the movies for over 10 years and finally, Rupert Grint (Ron) participated in a photo shoot as one of his favorite movie characters.

'Half-Blood Prince' DVD tops sales in the U.S.
The release of Warner Home Video's "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" DVD topped sales in the U.S. this week, garnering $302 million in sales. Meanwhile, it was in the number 2 spot for movie rentals.

Visual effects in 'HBP' shortlisted for Oscar nomination
"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" has been short-listed by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for nomination in next year's Oscar ceremony. One of 15 films, including "Star Trek" and "2012", the list will be condensed even further next month and then members have until January 21 to pick which three will go on to be finalists.

'Half-Blood Prince' DVD clips, deleted scenes appear online
Numerous videos have began to appear online from the "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" DVD set to be released in the U.S. December 8th. Warner Brothers has provided us with several Hi-Res scenes from the film, while several deleted scenes and a sneek peek at the theme park have found their way onto the internet.

WB releases 'HBP' screenplay; announces awards push
Warner Brothers has released the full "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" screenplay on their website in anticipation of the upcoming awards season. This coming along with the news that numerous categories have been submitted for consideration by WB.

New 'Half-Blood Prince' video feature released
An additional video from the "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" DVD has appeared online. The piece called "The Pitfalls of Teenage Love" has been released on iTunes and YouTube and includes interviews with various cast members.
